Another one bites the dust , well Jones was indirectly mentioned in a debate which led to the resignation of the Speaker of the Federal Parliament today , 9 Oct. . In all of the years of observing Parliament , the Question Time was the worst seen . The Prime Minister deserves full credit for her patience with Mr. Abbott . The Opposition's conduct was disgraceful and it's leader got exactly what he deserved , one is reminded of Jeannie C. Riley's song " Harper Valley PTA " . These " wreck the joint " tactics have failed , they better come up with a Plan " B '' and , preferably , a new leader .

It is time to let radio station 2GB know our feelings about Jones and the decline of standards in Australian political debate . In order to set the record straight, we do not advertise with Alan Jones. I am perplexed as to how or why Harris Partners Real Estate were added to the petition that is now doing the rounds.
Both my wife and I felt Alan Jones' "shame" comments in relation to Prime Minister Julia Gilliard's father John Gilliard passing away, were disgraceful and offensive.
Harris Partners does pay to advertise on Ross Greenwood's 2GB Money News programme from time to time. It is non-political and in line with our target audience.
Any Harris Partners ads that may have run during Alan Jones' programme were unpaid advertisements. Other than the complaint emails I received from telling me that we advertise on Alan Jones' programme, I was totally unaware that we were ever featured on Jones' show.
If you get the chance to forward this email to the person that associated us with Alan Jones and added us to the petition mail-out, I would be grateful.

I think what has happened is that the net was cast fairly wide to include anyone
who may have advertised with 2GB , one Reporter stated that Jones has a
financial interest in the station . Part of the confusion has come about because
2GB has removed it's Advertiser List from their website . There are still
advertisements on the site and I assume on air for organisations etc. not on the
" List " that I have seen . I assume that as you are in the real estate industry
, you would know about " ad-words " ( paid keyword search terms ) . 2GB appears
to be using ad-words and advertisers could be unaware that their ads are on the
site . The ads may be rotated on page load .
I suspect that one or more of the above factors are involved with
Harris Partners being added to the list being circulated . I will see what I can
do to correct the record , but I am only one of thousands ( Mr Jones has upset a
lot of people over the years . ) I take it that you are happy to have your Email
published .

NOTE : The Macquarie name here is not that of the respected Colonial Governor of NSW or the University but , I suspect , Macquarie Group Limited .
I also suspect that the word "suspended " is used to allow the reinstatement of advertising after the dust settles . We must not let this happen .

advertising on Alan Jones' show has just been suspended. 2GB's owners
released a statement this afternoon saying they're calling a "timeout" -- urging
advertisers to "regroup" and consider returning to Jones.
Commentators
are saying the response is "unprecedented". In just a week, 100,000 of you have
spoken out about Jones' disgusting comments -- and it's forced more than 70 of
Australia's biggest brands to withdraw financial support of Jones.
But
instead of addressing Jones' repeated hateful and bullying episodes, 2GB are
trying to make the controversy blow over quickly.

Our campaign
has always been about demanding a basic level of decency and humanity from our

I have spent half an hour looking for an informed article dealing with the present Immigration debate . Well , there is none . Nothing to simply add " Me too " as a comment .
No one is prepared to discuss the racial stupidity and political insincerity of the political / media classes . A fear of the unknown , founded in polls and self fore filling prophecies . All of which is about ratings , not adding to informed debate .
If Australia is to do something about this " security threat " let us change our approach to the areas the refugees are coming from . Next comes a bit of horse trading with countries to our North . Finally we need to treat refugees with dignity , such as we would expect if the situation was reversed , not the present attempts to circumvent Treaties we are committed too . They are seeking asylum , which Australia is legally bound to provide .
Frankly , the person who is prepared to risk all to get to Australia is the person the country needs in difficult economic times ( even if these conditions are better than those in almost every other country in the world , a country which until a few days ago , had a judiciary more or less free of political interference in the area of immigration . This is not to say that previous Immigration Ministers have allowed humanity to influence their decisions ) .
There is a lot more to consider here , including the maximum Size of Populations and the effects of Climate Change on the Supply of Food .
